1988 Hardbody truck nicknamed Ole’ Betsy. I can’t tell you how many times people approached us at gas stations asking to buy her. She was a farm truck until my dad bought her in 2014 and was used as a hobby vehicle. She had her quirks like the speedometer went out, so we used an app and the passenger window didn’t roll down, so we avoided it. However, she was such a joy to drive. In 2023 after my dad passed, I was thrilled to drive her. We replaced the AC compressor and tires in 2024.
In November we were driving and it died on the side of the road. We assumed it was the battery and alternator, so we replaced those. It still wasn’t driving right so we did a tune up on it at the shop it was originally towed to. The shop said there was still issues after that and it was possibly a dropped piston. We drove it home and decided as much as we would love to hold onto her, we have young kids and do not have the extra capital to keep pouring into her. We also do not have the skills to do it ourselves. She would be a great project vehicle for someone who has a love for classics and knowledge to keep her running smoothly. Body is great.
