1997 Ford F-250 XLT

It’s the last and best year of iconic Old-Body-Style Ford truck. 1997 was a split year where the F250 maintained the OBS look while the F150 went to the less popular style.

A very nice, low mileage (avg 4k year), original truck. 1997 is the last of the "OBS" old-body-style Ford F250's. The F150's were changed in 1996.

I would characterize this vehicle as in "excellent condition" on the body, interior, drive train, and frame. See photos of undercarriage. Sheet metal, frame, chassis in excellent shape. Back of sheet metal looks like new.

Very good maintenance including over $1000 on a complete oil and fluid exchange including engine oil, power steering, brake fluid and lines, differential gear oil, radiator coolant flush, and a transmission “drain and fill" which is the correct way to do it. New distributor. Tire rotation and balance. All suspension points greased. New “Real Truck” brand bed cover and high quality dense rubber bed mat contoured for this bed outline, new wiper blades and more.

The latest Hagerty report which tracks these vehicle sales nationally puts excellent condition vehicles at up to $28,500.

The body is clean and straight. The Light Saddle Metallic and Oxford White is in great condition. The chrome and trim is also in excellent condition. It has original Ford running boards and spray in bed liner. The underside of this F250 HD is clean as well. The vinyl pinstripes are beginning to show a little wear and were on my list to replace. Original Ford correct pinstripes available on multiple websites. I believe the tailgate was replaced in the past and there are a couple of small paint bubbles on the tailgate only.

The interior is in excellent condition. Seats, carpet, headliner, door panels, dash, and dash bezel are in very good condition. The headlights, taillights, brake lights, and turn signals and gauges are in working order. Fully functioning dual fuel tanks.

This truck has working cruise control and tilt wheel. As an XLT model it has working power windows and power locks. The AC, heat, horn and windshield wipers work.

Mechanically this truck is very good, and it runs and drives as it should. The engine is the famous 5.8L 351 Windsor V8 that runs strong. Dual exhaust with dual magna flow mufflers. The transmission is the E40D that shifts smoothly. The tranfer case is Borg Warner. The 4WD operates well.

It has the Ford 10.25 rear axle with 4.10 gears. The front axle is a Dana 44 TTB with 4.10 gears.

The wheels are HD aftermarket aluminum wheels with Cooper Discoverer ST tires.
