1999 Nissan Skyline GT-R R34
Former Endless shop car cared for in Sweden
Built 800hp RB26 with Precision 67/66
Full custom suede interior
S tune body kit with custom carbon trim
Priced accordingly as a Project car with good bones
VIN: BNR34000368
BACKGROUND
R34s are rather new to us stateside only becoming legal last year but they’re a familiar chassis to other continents. Regardless of the familiarity however, they’re just as special. Sweden has always been a power house for tuning. Maybe it’s a little more under the radar than places like Australia and Japan but the racing scene there is just as crazy. Drag racing events resemble those you find here with heavily modified American muscle cars ripping down the strip. Now available at RMC Miami is a special 34R that displays unique European taste that still retains Japanese roots.
The base of this build is an original Black Pearl example showing. Before making its way to Sweden, this was one of the Endless shop cars so it was already built for serious business… a gusseted cage was installed featuring well-made crossbars in the doorway that made way into a faux dash for better visibility. AC and radio aren’t required for going fast, so those were scrapped.
Under the carbon bonnet sits a fully built RB26 platform with a notable Precision 67/66 turbo and custom boost piping. With Eagle rods, CP pistons and a Nismo crank, the platform is able to withstand up to 1000 horsepower but is currently tuned to around 700 (dyno sheets available). The factory oil pan was extended and fitted with a Tomei oil pump and Greddy cooler and the end of the crank was fitted with a Ross damper. Paired to the standout HKS fuel rail is a set of massive 2400cc injectors with plenty of room efficiency-wise. A trunk-mounted racing fuel cell was mentioned in an article feature but was eventually replaced with a factory cell. Management is controlled by a MaxxECU system with controls mounted in place of the headunit. Another notable piece in the engine bay is the AS Auto cast strut brace, a rare and original style part that we’re lucky to find on these machines.
Regarding footwork, the setup is pretty simple. A set of TEIN one way coilovers keeps the chassis tight and an interesting set of D2 8-piston brakes in the front and 4 piston in the rear finished in metallic purple stand out behind the light bronze TE37SL.
The first thing you’ll notice about this 34 is the crazy interior. Early in its life it had a simple black faux dash but more recently it’s been completely reupholstered with grey alcantara. The Sparco Evo XLs, the dash, door cards, even parts of the cage are all finished in Alcantara and it offers quite a nice contrast to the diamond black exterior. A MaxxECU display replaces the original R34 data screen and controls for fans, antilag, etc. replace the headunit as mentioned previously.
