What kind of performance upgrades or modifications are commonly done to the 2000 Dodge Viper RT/10 to enhance its already high-performance capabilities?

The 2000 Viper RT/10 starts life with 450 hp / 490 lb-ft from its 8.0 L V-10, but owners almost always add a few proven bolt-ons (and sometimes serious boost) to wake it up even more.

  1. Headers & cat-back exhaust – Belanger 2-into-1 long-tubes and a Corsa or Borla cat-back are the go-to; worth 25-35 rwhp and a big drop in heat soak.
  2. Cold-air intake & smooth tubes – simple 10-15 rwhp and better throttle response.
  3. ECU reflash or standalone – firms up fuel/ignition curves and raises the 6,000-rpm redline a couple hundred rpm.
  4. Heads/cam package – ported heads, larger valves, and a mild roller cam routinely push a Gen-2 to 550-575 rwhp (≈ 650 crank hp) while staying naturally-aspirated.
  5. Forced induction – the same Roe Racing Autorotor twin-screw already on this car (5-psi “mild” tune) typically adds 120-140 rwhp on pump gas; 8-9 psi with cooling upgrades can top 700 rwhp on stock internals.
  6. Gearing & shifter – short-throw shifter (also on this car) and a 3.55:1 rear gear sharpen acceleration without revving past the limiter.
  7. Suspension & brakes – Eibach or Penske coil-overs, larger anti-roll bars, and StopTech 6-piston calipers keep the extra power usable.

With just headers, intake, and a Roe 5-psi kit, most RT/10s lay down 550-580 rwhp—about a 35% jump over stock—while remaining reliable enough for weekend canyon runs.
