This 2002 Porsche Boxster S was acquired by the seller on BaT in May of 2024. Subsequent service performed included an oil change, air filter replacement, cabin filter, radio fascia was replaced and the battery was replace as a preventative measure with a sealed unit.
Prior service by the previous owners involved replacing the IMS bearing with an LN Engineering kit as well as changing the rear main seal, ignition coils, fuel injectors, clutch, and flywheel. Additional work included replacing the cross-drilled disc brakes and installing Öhlins Road & Track coilovers and an FVD Brombacher Sport muffler. The car is powered by a 3.2-liter flat-six paired with a six-speed manual transaxle and finished in Slate Grey Metallic over Boxster Red leather. It is equipped with the Sport Package, a black soft top, 18″ SportDesign wheels, heated and power-adjustable seats, automatic climate control, aluminum pedals, and a Porsche CD-220 stereo. This 986 Boxster S now has 64k miles and is offered with manufacturer’s literature, service records, a (previous to current owner) Carfax report, and a clean Ohio title in the seller’s name.
The car is Slate Grey Metallic and features a replacement black soft top with a glass rear window in addition to xenon headlights, side air intakes, roll hoops, and a speed-activated rear spoiler. A November 2013 entry on the Carfax report lists an accident which the previous seller attributes to a parking incident, and the front bumper cover was reportedly repainted as a result. The windshield was replaced in 2021.
The 18″ SportDesign wheels are mounted with 225/40 front and 265/35 rear Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. Braking is handled by red Porsche-branded four-piston calipers fitted over cross-drilled rotors at all four corners, and the car is equipped with Porsche Stability Management. Öhlins Road & Track coilovers were installed and the front and rear brake pads and rotors were replaced in 2022.
The heated and power-adjustable seats are upholstered in Boxster Red leather and joined by a matching dashboard and door panels. One of the lower seat cushion frames was replaced along with both pads under previous ownership. Appointments include automatic climate control, cruise control, aluminum pedals, a Porsche CDR-220 stereo, and a wind deflector. An alarm system is reportedly installed.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel fronts a central 8k-rpm tachometer flanked by a 180-mph speedometer and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 63k miles, approximately 5k of which were added under current ownership.
The mid-mounted 3.2-liter flat-six was factory rated at 250 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque. Service in 2022 involved replacing the IMS bearing with an LN Engineering kit as well as changing the rear main seal, air oil separator, ignition coils, fuel injectors, water pump, thermostat, and coolant reservoir. The oil was changed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transaxle. The left transaxle mount was replaced, the fluid was flushed, and the clutch and flywheel were changed under previous ownership. The car was fitted with an FVD Brombacher Sport muffler with twin 3.5″ polished outlets as well as secondary catalytic converter bypass pipes in 2023. The original factor bypass pipes and muffler are included as is tonneau cover. Expansive documentation is also included.
I bought this car because it was more updated than most on the market. Unfortunatly, health issues are forcing this sale.
The only requirements I am aware of: Tires are dated and should be replaced...to me they are a personal decision based on the owners driving styles, so I have not done themas of yet. The front drivers seat may need a little care on the outer bolster...that is the way I bought it and is not really bad. Lastly, the same seat is a bit difficult to adjust. It all works, but it takes a bit of patience. I did it once and have never changed it.
