This M1123 was built for the USMC in 2006, remanufactured in 2009, designated as a Command Vehicle and then was placed in storage, partially stripped and eventually sold at auction. Although the odometer read only 3.6 miles the telling evidence it had not been placed in service was the plenum was as shiney as a new dime, the exhaust had no rust on it, (it had never been heated) and there wasn't any soot in the tailpipe.
After replacing the missing parts and starting the vehicle it had first and reverse gears only. After a short diagnosis I found there was a faulty cannon plug at the transmission relay. After that repair it ran perfectly. My point being the vehicle really did have only 3.6 miles on it at the time of purchase.
The first 500 mile break-in period was performed in accordance with the manufacture's recommendations.
The HMMWV and it's M1102 trailer run on 17 inch Hutchinson two piece aluminum combat wheels. The box is an electronics counter measures enclosure from the USAF and has been fitted with storage shelving, bedding and a cargo rack. The cargo rack has running lights forward and aft, four rear and side cameras and a full layer of 1/2 inch HDPE. The HDPE protects the roof of the enclosure from sunlight and provides a comfortable platform for spotting, scoping or just stowage of equipment and supplies.
A peculiar attribute of this HMMWV is it has all it's original equipment number, catalog number, Comm Vic designation and mascot sticker. The enclosure has it's original catalog number as well.
Electronics in the cab include a 2500 watt inverter, a 2GHZ Uniden scanner, a dual band HAM radio, the camera monitor and an AM/FM CD with 4-6X9 triaxial speakers. Also included is a 24V, 200 watt solar charger.
The engine cooling system has been modified and runs at 180+ rather than the original 230+ degrees protecting the engine's casting as well as the passenger's comfort. A fluid damper replaced the original damper giving the engine very smooth operation and protecting the crankshaft from premature failure.
The frame was extended 3 inches up front to accommodate a large 24V Sherpa 4X4 winch and hard, locking aluminum doors were added. The ignition switch was replaced with a Komatsu keyed ignition and the seats replaced with jeep seats.
The vehicle has no oil leaks. The M1102 trailer is fitted with 3 Scepter fuel cans and the enclosure carries 4-5 gallon fresh water jugs. There is a loading ladder stored on the tailgate and accomodates both enclosure and trailer access. The trailer has tie down rings, a large Treadlok storage box, tool box and fire extinguisher.
This rig was purpose built for camping, fishing and/or bugout.
