“What are the differences between the SXT and the R/T Challenger?”
The big difference is under the hood: the SXT uses a 3.6 L V6 (305 hp) while the R/T gets the 5.7 L Hemi V8 (about 375 hp). That V8 also brings a richer exhaust note and, on 2018 models, standard performance brakes and a limited-slip differential—plus the option of a 6-speed manual instead of just the 8-speed auto.
Fuel economy swings the other way: the V6 SXT is roughly 6-7 mpg better on the highway, so it’s the easier daily driver.
Price-wise, Classic.com’s current Market Benchmark puts the average 3rd-gen R/T at about $33.7k versus the SXT at ~$35.8k, but either one can move a few thousand up or down depending on options and mileage.
