can you tune a 2022 m240i to beat an m2?

Absolutely yes! A tuned M240i can definitely beat an M2 — at least in straight-line performance.

Stock figures:

  • M240i (B58): ~382 HP / 369 lb-ft
  • M2 G87 (S58): 453 HP / 406 lb-ft

After tuning:

  • dAHLer Competition Line (Stage 2): 455 HP / 471 lb-ft — matching M2 power
  • Manhart MH2 500: Over 500 HP — exceeding M2 power

The B58 engine in the M240i is a tuning legend — it’s under-stressed from the factory and loves modifications. The M240i you’re looking at already has the Femto unlocked ECU, MHD flex fuel/tuning, and an MST intake, so it’s likely already pushing 430-450+ HP with those mods alone.

But power isn’t everything:

  • The M2 has a bespoke M chassis (wider track, better suspension geometry)
  • The S58 is a proper M engine with superior cooling
  • Stronger transmission internals
  • More aggressive factory differential

Bottom line: For highway pulls and drag racing, a tuned M240i can embarrass an M2. For track work or handling? The M2’s chassis advantage is real.
