The third-generation of the Ford F-Series are trucks that were produced by Ford starting for the 1957 model year. Following its competitors at Dodge and General Motors, Ford widened the front bodywork to integrate the cab and front fenders together. Going a step further, the F-Series integrated the hood into the bodywork with a clamshell design; the feature would stay part of the F-Series for two decades. The third generation of F-Series was notable for being the first generation offered from the factory with four wheel drive as well as rear wheel drive. The main variants produced were the F-100, F-250, F-350, and Heavy Duty trucks, of which many were turned into Custom vehicles. Production of the third generation of F-Series lasted until 1960, when the Fourth Generation F-Series was unveiled.
