Dodge is an American automotive manufacturer that traces its roots to 1900. Dodge built products used by Ford to build their cars, before finally deciding to enter the automotive market in 1914 with its first offering, the Model 30. During its early years, the company was known as Dodge Brothers, and they built a wide range of cars and trucks before the company founders died, and the company found its way into the hands of Chrysler. After its acquisition by Chrysler, Dodge was positioned as a more affordable alternative to brands such as Plymouth and DeSoto. During its history, Dodge has produced a range of notable trucks and cars such as the Luxury Liner, Coronet, Dart, D Series, and Ram. Although Dodge is well known for its trucks and cars, the models that have most cemented its automotive legacy are its muscle cars. The Charger, Challenger, and Viper are amongst some of the most well known collector cars, each with a range of special editions and variants.
