After Tazio Nuvolari's memorable win at the 1935 German GP at the Nürburgring in a 3.2 L 8C Tipo B (P3) against Mercedes-Benz and Autounion, it was evident that the Alfa 8C Tipo B was outdated against the German machines. Nonetheless, another creation of Vittorio Jano, was in the works: the 8C 35 Tipo C. Introduced at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza in 1935, it featured a 3.8 L 8 cylinder engine with 330 hp and weight about 750 kg (1654 lbs), which made it capable of achieving a 0-60 mph time of only 7 seconds. Even though it took part in different races all over the world, it failed to compete against the much more powerful Mercedes-Benz and Autounion racers. It is believed that only 6 cars were constructed in 1935.
