Alfa Romeo Alfetta Race Cars (1972 to 1987)

Alfa Romeo's competition department Autodelta famously and successfully utilized the Alfetta GT/GTV during the 70's and early 80's as both a rally and touring car in official FIA competitions.  The Alfetta platform was initially developed for rally racing (debuted in the San Martino di Castrozza rally), so the improved and sporty GT and GTV were ideal for future racing efforts. In fact, the GTV 6 2.5, a V6 2.5 L touring car was actually very successful in the European touring car scene. It won the European Touring Car Championship for four years in a row between 1982-1985, the British Touring Car Championship in 1983, as well as many other racing and rallying competitions. Due to its success in several racing efforts, many enthusiasts all over the world developed Alfetta racing cars for private racing efforts, and even today many continue to be campaigned in vintage/historic rallies and races.
