For the 2013 model year, the Aston Martin DB9 received a substantial update which saw the model built on the new VH II platform. The updated DB9 was given facelifted styling, and was offered in coupe and 'Volante' convertible body styles. The VH II DB9 was fitted with Aston's AM11 engine, which was a 5.9L V12 tuned to generate 510hp. This engine was paired to a 6 speed manual, or 6 speed 'Touchtronic II' automatic transmission, which sent drive to the rear wheels. two main variants were built for the VH II DB9: Coupe - Automatic and Volante - Automatic. A high performance variant known as the DB9 GT was offered for 2016, which was the final year of Aston Martin DB9 production.
