Aston Martin debuted their updated Manual transmission equipped DB9 Coupe for the 2013 model year as a variant of the VH II Aston Martin DB9. These automatic-equipped hardtop sports cars were much more common than the rarer manual variants, although both featured Aston's AM11 engine, which was a naturally aspirated 5.9L V12 powerplant that had an output of 510hp. Drive was sent from this engine to the rear wheels through Aston's 6 speed 'Touchtronic II' automatic gearbox. Production of the Aston Martin DB9 lasted until 2016, when the model was discontinued and replaced by the Aston Martin DB11.
