The first generation of Aston Martin Vanquish was introduced for the 2002 model year. These luxury grand tourers were highly capable cars, offered in a sleek two door coupe body and powered by a sizable V12 engine. The initial launch model, also known here as the base model, was equipped with a 5.9L V12 powerplant that generated 460hp, which was sent to the rear wheels via 6 speed automated manual gearbox. Production of the Aston Martin Vanquish lasted until 2005, with a total of 1,492 examples built before it was replaced by the Aston Martin Vanquish S.
