In 1972 Aston Martin introduced the Vantage. Produced for a brief time, the First Generation Vantage was based on the First Generation DBS, yet featured an inline 6 engine. As the new V8 had already been introduced, Aston used the Vantage name for these inline 6 powered DBS-bodied cars. Only 71 examples were produced, making the First Generation Vantage a rare find. Aston Martin would later reintroduce the Vantage name for a series of sports cars known as the Second Generation Aston Martin Vantage.
