Audi S4 - C4 (1991 to 1994)

Audi first used the S4 name as a performance focused version of the Audi 100. The first S4 was built using the C4 platform, and was offered with two engine options, a 2.2L turbocharged inline five, or a 4.2L V8. The larger engine was offered on the rare S4 "Plus" variant. The S4 (C4) was available as a sedan or 'Avant' station wagon, and was in production until 1994. As the Audi 100 was renamed the Audi A6 in 1994, the S4 (C4) would be replaced by the first generation of Audi S6.
