The first generation Audi A6 was introduced for the 1995 model year. This first generation of A6 was known as the C4, and was offered as a sedan or 'Avant' station wagon. The A6 (C4) was fitted with a range of inline four, inline five, V6, and V8 engines, and featured the high performance S6 among its most notable variants. Production of the A6 (C4) ended in 1997, when it was replaced by the Second Generation Audi A6.
