Audi Quattro (1980 to 1991)

Audi first introduced their legendary Quattro series of sports cars in 1980 (1983 in North America). Also known as the Ur-Quattro (Ur in German is a prefix meaning first, or original), the Quattro shared many components with the Audi 80 (B2). The Quattro proved to be an incredibly capable Race Car, winning numerous championships and events during its competitive life. Due to the success of the Quattro, Audi has badged all of its four-wheel drive equipped cars with the name quattro in lowercase. All Quattro cars were powered by turbocharged inline five engines, yet different variants saw engines with different states of tune as well as displacement. Alongsde the Base Model, the most notable road going variant of the Quattro was the Sport Quattro, which saw two different versons (S1 & S1 E2), and was created in order to meet homologation rules for the Group B Rally Championship. The Audi Quattro was in production until 1991.
