The Austin-Healey 3000 was a series of sports cars introduced in 1959 for the 1960 model year. The 3000 was the most powerful and well known of the 'Big Healeys' alongside the 100 and 100-6. Over the course of production, the 3000 was offered as a 2+2 roadster (BT7), 2 seat roadster (BN7), and 2+2 convertible (BJ7, BJ8). The 2.9L inline six engine for which the 3000 was named was offered on all variants, but in various states of tune. Three generations of 3000 were built: Mk I (1960-1961), Mk II (1962-1963), and Mk III (1964-1967). Due to the sporty nature of the Austin-Healey 3000, it was commonly converted into a Race Car.
