Benz & Cie. Ideal (1898 to 1902)

The Benz Ideal was produced by Benz & Cie. between 1898 and 1902 as a more refined evolution of the company’s early vehicles. Designed for improved usability and comfort, it retained the rear-mounted single-cylinder engine, typically producing between 3.5 and 5 horsepower, depending on the version. The car featured belt-driven transmission, solid rubber tires, and 2 or 3-speed gearboxes. With a top speed of approximately 30 km/h, the Ideal was known for its improved stability and smoother operation, serving as a practical and more advanced alternative to earlier models like the Benz Velo.
