The BMW 135i was a variant of the E8x BMW 1 Series that debuted for the 2008 model year. The 135i was offered in the E82 Coupe and E88 Convertible body styles, and was intially powered by a 302hp version of BMW's N54 engine, but from the 2011 model year, the 135i was equipped with a verison of BMW's N55 engine. Both engines had a similar output, and were both 3.0L turbocharged inline six powerplants, but the N55 had better economy and a wider powerband. These engines were both paired to manual or automatic transmission options that sent drive to the rear wheels. Production of the E8x BMW 135i lasted until 2013.
