The first generation of BMW 4 Series is categorized as the F32. Introduced for the 2014 model year, the 4 Series was available in Coupe (F32), Convertible (F33), and Gran Coupe (F36) body styles, and was available with a variety of inline 3, inline 4, and inline 6 engines. Variants of the F32 4 Series included the 420i, 420d, 428i, 428i xDrive, 430i, 430i xDrive, 435i, 435d, 435i xDrive, 440i, and 440i xDrive. The most notable variant is the performance focused F82 M4 which features a different chassis code as it has a range of improvements over the standard 4 Series. As is common with popular models, the F32 4 Series was often converted into a Race Car. Production of the F32 BMW 4 Series lasted until 2020, when it was replaced by the G22 BMW 4 Series.
