BMW 840Ci - Automatic - E31 (1993 to 1999)

Introduced for the 1993 model year, the 840Ci was a variant of the E31 BMW 8 Series. The 840Ci was the E31 8 Series' lowest priced offering, and was powered by a V8 engine. Initially, the 840Ci was fitted with BMW's M60B40 4.0L V8 engine, but in 1995, a the larger M62B44 4.4L V8 engine was used. While featuring the same power rating as the 4.0L unit, the B62B44 featured more torque and a wider powerband. Both engines were available with a 4 speed automatic transmission that sent power to the rear wheels. Production of the BMW 840Ci ended in 1999, with a total of 7,803 examples built.
