The first generation of BMW X6 was introduced for the 2008 model year. Known as the E71, the first generation X6 was based on the E70 X5 yet featured a coupe-like roofline. Available with a few versions of inline 6 and V8 engines, the E71 received an M version starting in 2009. Known as the X6 M, this top of the line variant featured a 4.4L V8 engine. Built until 2014, the E71 was replaced by the F16 for the 2015 model year.
