The Chevrolet Chevy II was a series of compact cars introduced for the 1962 model year. The Chevy II was created to give Chevrolet a simple, compact model after the rather left field Corvair. The first generation of Chevy II was available in sedan, hardtop and station wagon body styles, including a brief run of convertibles from 1962-1963. Three main trim levels were offered, a base 100 Series, intermediate 300 Series, and premium Nova 400 Series. The standard engine was a 2.5L inline four unit, but both inline six and V8 options were available. In 1963, a Super Sport (SS) version of the Chevy II Nova was introduced. Production of the first generation Chevy II lasted until 1965, when it was replaced by the Second Generation Chevrolet Chevy II.
