Chevrolet Malibu (1978 to 1983)

The Chevrolet Malibu was a series of mid-size cars that debuted for the 1978 model year. The Malibu name was used as a designated upgrade from the base Chevrolet Chevelle, eventually becoming its own distinct model for 1978. Production of the Malibu ended in 1983, yet the name was revived in 1997. At Classic.com we only track the 1978-1983 Malibu. As the Malibu name is so closely tied to the Chevelle, the first generation of Malibu as a stand alone model is known as the 4th Gen considering the lineage of the Malibu name.
