The Chrysler 300J was introduced for the 1963 model year, and was the ninth variant of the 300 Letter Series. Chrysler skipped the "i" as they felt people would confuse a capital "i" with a 1. The 300J saw updated, more angular styling, and was only produced as a two door hardtop, as Letter Series cars were struggling with popularity. The 300J Convertible was sold as part of the 300 Non-Letter Series for 1963. The 300J was fitted with a 6.8L 'Wedge' V8 engine, was only available for the 1963 model year, and was replaced by the Chrysler 300K.
