In 1972, De Tomaso introduced their new grand tourer, the Longchamp. Based on their earlier Deauville saloon, the Longchamp was powered by a Ford 351 V8 engine. The Longchamp saw produced in two series, the first starting in 1972, and the second in 1980, although production of the second series saw much less volume. The car was initially built as a coupe, yet a convertible Spyder variant was added in 1980. Only 395 coupes and 14 spyders were built before production ended in 1989.
