Delage Type AI (1913 to 1918)

The Type AI was intrroduced by Delage in 1913, conceived as a high performance sports and touring car for its time. Available in torpedo and roadster configurations, it featured a front mounted 2.6L inline four cylinder engine, rear wheel drive and a four speed manual transmission, initially chain driven and later via driveshaft depending on the version. The Type AI stood out for its advanced engineering, low weight and excellent performance in competition, becoming one of Delage's most renowned models before World War I. Among its most notable aspects were its mechanical refinement, reliability and the sporting reputation that helped solidify the international prestige of the French brand. The Delage Type AI was produced until 1918.
