Dodge Challenger - 1st Gen (1970 to 1974)

The Dodge Challenger was a series of pony cars introduced for the 1970 model year. The first generation Challenger was introduced alongside its corporate cousin, the Plymouth Barracuda to compete with Mercury and Pontiac in the pony car market, and was offered in coupe, hardtop, and convertible body styles. These rear wheel drive cars were available with a variety of inline six and V8 powerplants. Dodge produced two notable performance variants known as the T/A and R/T for the first generation Challenger, which was built until 1974, when the model was discontinued. In 1978, Dodge revived the name when they introduced the Second Generation Dodge Challenger.
