Dodge Lancer - 2nd Gen (1985 to 1989)

The second generation of Dodge Lancer was introduced for the 1985 model year. The Lancer name had been unused for over 20 years when Dodge decided to introduce a new series of hatchbacks in 1985. This new series of Lancers were only offered in a five door hatchback body style, and featured a range of naturally aspirated or turbocharged inline four engines sending power to the front wheels. For the 1987 model year, Shelby American produced their own version known as the Shelby Lancer, with Dodge then creating a factory version under the name Lancer Shelby. Production of the second generation Lancer ended in 1989 when Dodge discontinued the model.
