The Ducati TT series was a family of lightweight racing motorcycles developed in the late 1970s and early 1980s for Formula TT and endurance competition. Early machines appeared around 1977–1980 as NCR-prepared racers based on the Ducati 900 SuperSport, powered by an 864 cc air-cooled bevel-drive L-twin that produced roughly 80–90 hp and became famous after Mike Hailwood won the 1978 Isle of Man TT. Ducati introduced in 1981 the 750 TT1, which used a 748 cc Pantah-based belt-driven desmodromic L-twin producing about 85–90 hp, marking the transition away from bevel-gear engines. The most successful model was the 600 TT2 produced between 1981 and 1984, powered by a 583cc Pantah-derived L-twin producing around 75–80 hp, which dominated Formula TT racing thanks to its very light weight and excellent handling. Together, the 900, 750, and 600 TT motorcycles helped establish the engineering foundation for Ducati’s later high-performance sport bikes.
