The Excelsior Motor Manufacturing & Supply Company was an American motorcycle manufacturer that traces its roots to 1876. Originally a bicycle builder, in 1905, Excelsior introduced its first motorcycle. In 1912, Excelsior was bought by Schwinn, who bought Henderson Motorcycles and paired the brands until 1931, when Ignaz Schwinn decided to end motorcycle operations due to the Great Depression. The Excelsior Motor Manufacturing & Supply Company is not to be confused with the British Excelsior Motor Company. In 1993, the Excelsior and Henderson nameplates were used for a new company that operated under the name Excelsior-Henderson.
