The Ferrari 328 GTS (Gran Turismo Spider) is the targa topped - or semi-convertible - version of the 328 series. Although closely related to its predecessor, the Ferrari 308, modifications were made to the body, chassis, and engine, most notably an increase in engine displacement to 3.2 L for increased power and torque output. The 3.2-litre V8, with 4-valves-per-cylinder (quattro valve), was capable of 270 hp, delivering power to the rear via a 5-speed manual transmission. A total of 6,068 GTS's were made, far more than the 1,344 samples of the GTB variant (coupe). Overlapping in the last year of production, it was succeeded by the Ferrari 348 for model year 1989.
