The Ferrari 348 Challenge, the first of the Ferrari Challenge series, was unveiled in 1992 for the 1993 racing season. The engine used in participating cars was similar to the road going 348 GTB and 348 GTS models introduced in 1993 with the only noticeable changes being the slick tires, new body kit, and better brake-pads, among others. It is believed that less than 50 factory Challenge race cars were produced. However, it is worth noting that some standard 348 models were converted into 348 Challenge cars by dealers using factory supplied "Challenge Kits". The 348 Challenge was succeeded by Ferrari F355 Challenge in 1995.
