The sixth generation of Ford Fairlane debuted for the 1968 model year. As was as updated styling, the sixth generation was larger than its predecessor, although the wheelbase remained unchanged. Alongside the hardtop, convertible, and sedan variants, a new two door fastback body style was introduced. These cars were powered by a standard inline six engine, and were available with a wide range of optional V8 engines. Production of the sixth generation ended in 1969, when the Seventh Generation Ford Fairlane was unveiled.
