The third generation of the Ford Fiesta, which is commonly known as the Mk3 Fiesta, debuted for the 1990 model year. The Mk3 Fiesta was predominantly sold as a 2 or 4 door hatchback, but panel van versions were also available. Many variants from previous generations continued to feature for the Fiesta, but a few new notable ones were introduced, such as the XR2i, RS Turbo,  and RS1800. A large selection of inline four engines was offered over the course of production, with displacements ranging from 1.0L to 1.8L. Although the Mk3 Fiesta was built until 1997, its replacement, the Mk4 Ford Fiesta, was introduced for 1996.
