The third and final generation of Ford Torino was unveiled for the 1972 model year. Over the course of production, this generation was available in hardtop, fastback, coupe, sedan, and station wagon body styles. New trim levels were introduced, with the premium offering being the 'Gran Torino' while the new sporty variant was known as the 'Gran Torino Sport.' The Torino saw yearly updates to its styling as well as options. Until 1973, an inline six engine was offered on the Torino, but from 1974 until the end of production in 1976, only V8 powerplants were used. When the Torino was discontinued in 1976, the model was replaced by the Ford LTD II.
