In 1939 Hudson Motor Car Company introduced the column-mounted gearshift, joining several other car manufacturers with this trend, which provided more space for the front seat passengers; this trend would continue for more than 20 years. With the presentation of the new 1939 fleet came the Standard Six Series 92, joined by several models within the 90’s Series. Series 92 adopted the new "radial safety control" / "rhythmic ride" suspension that consisted of preventing the car from moving when hitting the breaks and/or bumps. The Series 92 was powered by a 6 cylinder 212ci providing just shy 100hp.
