The second generation of Infiniti G, known as the P11, debuted for the 1999 model year. Like its predecessor, the P10, the P11 was based on the Nissan Primavera, and was offered in one variant, the G20. This family of front wheel drive, four door sedans was powered by Nissan's SR20DE engine, which was a 2.0L inline four that initially generated 140hp, but was improved for the 2000 model year, and rated at 145hp. This engine was paired to a 5 speed manual or optional 4 speed automatic transmission. As well as the base model, the sporty "Touring" variant was also offered, featuring a limited-slip differential as well as various cosmetic changes to the interior and exterior. The P11 Infiniti G20 was in production until 2002, when it was replaced by the Third Generation Infiniti G.
