Iso Rivolta

Iso was an Italian manufacturer of cars and motorcycles that was established in 1953. The company had roots in various industries before being re-established in 1953 in order to signify its new focus on transportation. Founded by Renzo Rivolta, Iso created one of the most iconic microcars during its early years, the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/iso/isetta/">Isetta</a>. These cars would sell around the world, and were licenced by a variety of manufacturers. In 1962, Iso introduced the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/iso/rivolta/">Rivolta</a>, their first grand tourer. The Rivolta signaled Iso&#39;s shift into more luxurious performance cars, and the company would later introduce models like the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/iso/grifo/">Grifo</a>, <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/iso/fidia/">Fidia</a>, and <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/iso/lele/">Lele</a>. Iso continued to operate until 1974, when the company went bankrupt.

The Iso Rivolta was a series of grand tourers introduced in 1962. The Rivolta was Iso&#39;s first luxury car, and it was offered in a coupe body style designed by the legendary Giorgetto Guigiaro. The Iso Isetta was a series of microcars introduced in 1953. The Isetta featured a distinctive egg-like design and large windows leading to many people calling it the &quot;bubble-car.&quot; This line of cars was powered by a compact 236cc two cylinder engine located in front of the rear wheels. Alongside the standard body style, both van and pickup truck variants were offered. The Isetta was licensed to numerous other manufacturers, with the most famous being the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/bmw/isetta">BMW Isetta</a>. Although Italian production of the Iso Isetta ended in 1955, Spanish production continued until 1958.

Iso Grifo

The Iso Grifo was a series of sports cars introduced in 1965. The Grifo was developed by famed engineer Giotto Bizzarrini, the man behind the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/ferrari/250/gto/">Ferrari 250 GTO</a>, in order to give Iso a follow-up to the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/iso/rivolta/">Iso Rivolta</a>. These cars were intended to compete with Europe&#39;s most established sports car manufacturers, matching luxury and style with <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/chevrolet/">Chevrolet</a> and <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/ford/">Ford</a> V8 muscle. After the creation of the prototype, Iso and Bizzarrini differed in how they viewed the model, with Iso wanting to create a powerful and luxurious grand tourer, while Bizzarrini saw great racing potential in his creation, and wanted the Grifo to be a competition car. This vision came to fruition with the <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/iso/grifo/a3c/">Grifo AC/3</a>, a limited production powerhouse that Bizzarrini called his &quot;improved GTO.&quot; Only 22 examples of the AC/3 were built before Iso and Bizzarrini parted ways, and the company proceeded with their vision of the Grifo. These grand tourers featured styling by Giorgetto Guigiaro and were built in two series: <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/iso/grifo/series-i/">Series I (1965-1970)</a> and <a href="https://www.classic.com/m/iso/grifo/series-ii/">Series II (1970-1975)</a>. Only 413 examples (not including AC/3) of these exclusive cars were built before Iso went bankrupt in 1974.
