The Tipo IM was introduced by Isotta Fraschini in 1913. It was originally designed as a military car for the Italian army during World War I. This vehicle had a 6.0L inline four engine, paired to a 4-speed manual transmission with power sent to the rear wheels. However, a racing variant was also created based on this model. This version was optimized for the Targa Florio and other endurance competitions of the time. The competition Isotta Fraschini Tipo IM had a 7.2L inline six engine that allowed it to reach a maximum speed of approximately 160 km/h. Its weight was reduced compared to the military version, thanks to a lighter body. The Isotta Fraschini Tipo IM was produced until 1917.
