Lamborghini Countach LP400 S (1978 to 1982)

The second evolution of the Lamborghini Countach, the LP400 S, arrived on the market in 1978. These S cars featured more aggressive and angular bodywork which would mark a change from the more flowing, cleaner lines of the LP400. Over the course of its production, three distinct series were made. The Series I (50 made, 1978-1979), the Series II (105 made, 1980-1982), and the Series III (82 made, 1980-1982). These cars were all fitted with the Lamborghini 4L V12 engine featured in the original LP400. While largely similar, each of these cars had slight variances that made them distinct. The provenance and exact specifications of these LP400 S cars can be difficult to ascertain as there is no clear demarcation between each series, and accurate factory records are hard to come by. Another factor affecting each car's provenance is the modifications done by customers, such as the addition of a rear wings, or changing of wheels. Even with all of the variations found for the S, one thing is certain: with only 237 S cars having left the factory, any original Lamborghini Countach LP400 S is a special find. Production of the LP400 S ended in 1982, and the variant was replaced by the Lamborghini Countach LP500 S.
