Lamborghini Urraco P250 (1972 to 1976)

The first Lamborghini Urraco to be available to the public was the P250. Fitted with Lamborghini's new mid-mounted 2.5L V8 engine, the P250 was designed to be an accessible exotic car. With its transverse, mid-mounted engine mated to a 5 speed manual transmission, the Urraco P250 had all of the driving dynamics expected from an Italian performance car, while still being priced well lower than the Maserati Merak and the Ferrari Dino 308. As well as driving like an Italian performance car, Lamborghini gave it looks to match, with a body styledd by legendary Bertone designer Marcello Gandini. Although a solid performer on the road, the Urraco did not sell as expected. In an attempt to boost sales, Lamborghini sold versions of the P250 designated the P250 S. These cars were nearly identical to the P250, apart from an improved interior featuring electric windows, leather upholstery, and tinted glass. Performance and roadholding remained unchanged from the P250. The most successful variant of the Urraco, the P250 sold 520 cars.
