Land Rover Series I (1948 to 1958)

The Land Rover Series I was first introduced in 1948. Initially the model was known as the Land Rover and was produced by the Rover Company. The Series I name was not used at launch, but it has become the standard way to differentiate these early models. The Land Rover Series I is the beginning of the bloodline for a range of off-road vehicles which have become legendary for their all terrain abilities. Series I models were fitted with 1.6L or 2.0L inline four engines and were produced until 1958. The Series I was replaced by the Land Rover Series II.
