The Mazda Lantis was a compact five-door hatchback or four-door sedan sold primarily in Japan. Introduced for the 1994 model year, the Lantis was known as the 323F in Europe and the Astina, Allegro, or Artis in various South American markets. The front-drive Lantis was typically powered by a variety of four-cylinder engines, however, the Lantis Type R was fitted with a 147hp 2.0-liter V6 and a limited-slip differential to emphasize the performance potential of the racey option package.
