In 2020 McLaren launched the Sabre, which it claimed was the fastest two-seat car they had built. The McLaren Special Operations (MSO) division drew inspiration from previous McLaren models, yet the design is stand-alone. The Sabre delivers on McLaren's bold claims aesthetically too. Designers gave the car dramatic lines and large distinct diffusers to accommodate the powertrain. The Sabre is a hypercar that is not a hybrid and contains a similar powerplant to the Senna, a twin-turbo 4.0L V8 pumping out 824hp, which surpasses the Senna. All the fun is driven to the rear wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Only 16 examples of the Sabre were constructed.
