Originally a model introduced by Daimler (DMG), the 24/100/140 PS became known as the Mercedes-Benz Typ 630 when Daimler merged with Benz & Cie in 1926. In accordance with German naming conventions at the time, the 24 referred to the tax horsepower, where 100/140 referred to the actual horsepower. Due the model being fitted with an engageable supercharger, 100 refers to the standard horsepower, while 140 is the supercharged horsepower. This power came from a supercharged 6.3L inline 6 engine. A high performance variant of the Typ 630 was known as the Modell K was released in 1926. It featured a shorted chassis in an open top configuration, and in 1928, it received a power upgrade. In this configuration it is common to see the Modell K listed as the 24/110/160 PS. Production of the Typ 630 ended in 1929.
