Mercedes-Benz 300d Adenauer - W189 (1957 to 1962)

The Mercedes-Benz W189 was introduced in 1957 and was the company's top of the line model during its production. The successor the the W186 300 Adenauer, the W189 was marketed by Mercedes as the 300d. The car was the company's handbuilt flagship and was used by world leaders as well as titans of industry. The W189 has the nickname Adenauer, after the German chancellor Konrad Adenauer, who used the cars extensively during his tenure. The W189 was offered as a 300d Saloon or 300d Cabriolet. It is common to find customized examples featuring owner-specific modifications such as phaeton and landaulet versions. Built until 1962, the W189 was followed up by the Mercedes 600.
